Anoka County Purchasing Director Named President of State Assoc.

The director of Anoka County Risk Management and Purchasing has been named president of the state association.

John Sullivan was sworn into the Minnesota Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing association on Friday, Jan. 20.

The association aims to improve governmental purchasing departments and agencies.
 

Fridley Homeowners Find Man Hiding in Bedroom

Fridley homeowners got a scare when they found a man hiding in their bedroom on Sunday, Jan. 22.

Police say the man tried to run from the home after he was discovered and took a set of car keys in the process.

Fridley Home Burglarized, Electronics Stolen Wednesday

Fridley Police are warning residents to be on the lookout after a home was burglarized Wednesday.

Police say a resident came home and saw that the frame of the front door had been broken and the house had been burglarized. Items missing included three televisions, an Xbox gaming system, video games and a laptop.

A 34-year-old Columbia Heights man is charged with promoting the prostitution of a 17-year-old girl - after a hotel manager found information about the man's escort service online.

Anoka County Cities Study Rum River Crossing, Host Public Meetings

Several north metro cities are working together to study the Rum River Crossing to see if it can handle future traffic projections. The cities were wondering if they needed to build a new river crossing.

The final study shows that improvements could be made to the current crossings, so new locations won’t be studied anymore.
